The project location is in the Hawiyah Unayzah area, eastern region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and has been awarded to South Korean Oil & Gas Company, Samsung Engineering. The project includes gas injection facility of 1,500 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) and a gas reprocessing facility of 2,000 MMSCFD. Once the project is completed, it will introduce surplus sales gas into existing well during winter and reproduce gas to match the increase in demand in the summer, due to regional characteristics.

The project scope of works includes the construction of a 3km public loop road circling around Souk Al Jubail to provide road connectivity and access to the neighbouring villages. Scope of work also includes the construction of 5km of internal roads in Marfaa Al Jubail. Utility infrastructure development, including electricity, water, sewage, irrigation, telecom and gas networks, as well as street lighting will be part of the contract. Works on the 18-month-long first infrastructure package have commenced on two of the six villages that are part of the AED5bn project, Marfaa Al Jubail and Souk Al Jubail. With overall infrastructure works on Jubail Island amounting to approximately AED600m, JIIC confirmed that to date a total of AED120m in infrastructure contracts have been approved.

Located next to the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, the new 308,000sqm exhibition and convention centre will be built on a 1.3-million-sqm plot. It will be five times bigger than the current exhibition centre in Sanabis. The project will be the largest of its kind in the region. The centre will consolidate the kingdom’s status as a leading tourism and commercial destination. The new centre will include 10 exhibition halls with a total area of 95,000sqm, along with all the necessary services, in addition to areas dedicated for retail and events. The facility will also include a 4,500sqm conference hall which will be divided into three separate
hi-tech rooms, in addition to 27 small and medium conference and meeting rooms with a total area of about 1,700sqm, as well as two majlises for VIPs.

Esterad Amwaj, the company behind Amwaj Gateway, has started completing the development work of this project, which is one of the largest real estate projects in Bahrain. Amwaj Gateway spans 33,000sqm and is situated at the entrance of the innovative waterside complex called Amwaj Islands; a series of man-made islands located 10.5km northeast of Bahrain’s main island off the coast of Muharraq. The completion of the Amwaj Gateway project will be carried out in three phases. All the development work will be fully completed within five years.

The new substations will replace old substations that have been deemed old and obsolete by KNPC. Amec Foster Wheeler has been mandated as design, infrastructure and project management consultant for the project. The project includes the expansion and modernization of oil refineries in Mina Al-Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah. Once the project completed, it will increase the refining capacity of crude oil to more than 936 thousand barrels per day compared to present capacity of 736 thousand barrels per day.

Spread over an immense 120,000sqft., the first phase of the project is set to be completed by 2020. The production of all W Motors vehicles will move to this location, including the limited series Fenyr SuperSport, upcoming new vehicles, electric and autonomous models, as well as all the vehicles under the company’s Special Projects Division. Phase One will be divided into three blocks: the Manufacturing Division will comprise a mechanical workshop, an assembly area, a “Concept and Prototype” manufacturing zone, and will feature the latest machines equipped with advanced smart technologies for the production of carbon fibre, aluminium and other parts. Phase Two of the project will be the W Motors Automotive Academy, developed in partnership with leading regional and international educational institutions.
